Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced

  • 2 Thai Chilis, finely minced (plus more for garnish)

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves

  • 8 butter lettuce leaves

  • lime, to serve

  • cilantro, for garnish

  • Sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp fish sauce

  • 1 tsp oyster sauce

  • 1/4 tsp white pepper

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Directions

  • In a small bowl, mix the ingredients for the sauce and set aside.
  • Add 2 tbsp of oil to a pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and Thai chilis and cook for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef, then break into pieces with a large spoon. Cook for 5 minutes. Pour in the sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat, then stir in the Thai basil.
  • Once the basil has wilted, scoop the beef over lettuce leaves. Serve with lime and garnish with sliced Thai chilis and cilantro.
